June 19 7PM at Ailey Citigroup Theater
Join NYC based choreographers Deborah Damast and Michael Kerr for DAMAST & KERR IN CONCERT at the Ailey Citicorp Theater in New York City on June 19, 2019 at 7pm. Damast and Kerr were introduced to each other almost twenty years ago, thus sparking a friendship entrenched in mutual respect, trust and support for each other as dance artists/educators. In 2007, one inspired the other to consider working choreography together, resulting in Damast choreographing a duet on the two of them entitled You/Me. Kerr’s admiration for Damast’s creative process and work style led to him dancing in other works Damast choreographed including Love Thy Neighbor, which he is thrilled to be performing in once again at their upcoming concert. As dance educators, they have worked together in many capacities such as dance curriculum writers, professional development workshop facilitators, collaborating teachers and most recently as classmates in the first cohort of Dance Education Doctoral Program at Columbia University, Teachers College. We hope you are available to attend this ‘one night only’ dance concert event collaboratively produced, directed and choreographed by Deborah Damast and Michael Kerr. Mrs. Damast, along with presenting Love Thy Neighbor, will also being reviving Apart/ A part and Mixed Messages. Mr. Kerr will be also be presenting Fleeting Pauses, Salto di Fede and NeXt Stop, which he has been developing since forming his own dance company DanceKerr in 2015.
